Dr. Thomas S. Loftus, M.D.

Dr. Thomas S. Loftus established Austin Neurosurgical Institute in July 2003. He is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Raised in Marble Falls, Dr. Loftus returned to Austin after completing his residency in neurological surgery at the University of Missouri. There he received extensive training in treatment of a broad spectrum of neurosurgical disorders with a special emphasis in complex spine surgery and minimally invasive techniques.

He graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Texas Medical Foundation. Dr. Loftus has taught courses addressing minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques at numerous professional conferences and assists with new product development for various biomedical companies.

James M Parks, PA-C

Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner
In May 2009, Austin Neurosurgical Institute welcomed James M. Parks, P.A.-C, a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. James specializes in muscular skeletal sports and trauma injuries along with urgent care to his patients. He is a member of many local and national organizations that include the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Texas Academy of Physicians Assistants. James is certified by the National Commission on certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), and Physician Assistants Licensures from the Texas and Louisiana Medical Boards.

Michelle Gregory, MSN, APRN, NP-C 

Nurse Practitioner
The Austin Neurological Institute welcomed Michelle Gregory, APRN, FNP-C as our Nurse Practitioner in August 2015. Michelle is a 2012 graduate of West Texas A&M University with a Master’s of Science in Nursing, and is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Her previous experience as a FNP includes two years in family and internal medicine. In the years prior to becoming a FNP, Michelle worked as a Registered Nurse in numerous settings including: Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Surgical Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine and Post-Surgery. Her professional affiliations include the American Academy of Nurse practitioners and Austin Advanced Practice Nurses.
